Our Story
The Practice
Our doctors have experience in general medicine, minor surgery, paediatrics, shared care obstetrics, addictions medicine, general practitioner psychiatry, management of chronic disease, depression and anxiety, sexual health, infectious diseases, skin disorders, reproductive health, musculoskeletal disorders, auto-immune disorders, sports injuries, learning and developmental disorders, diabetes, digestive complaints, parasites and chronic pain.
Patients are given the opportunity to meet with a doctor and another medical practitioner in combined consultation – a model first developed by the North Coast Medical Centre (NCMC). Our doctors liaise together and hold regular meetings to discuss patients care. Whichever health practitioner you choose they are all dedicated to one thing—your health and happiness.

Dr Anthony Solomon Q&A
At North Coast Medical you provide much more than just a “doctor’s appointment “tell us a little bit about the services you provide?
We are a multidisciplinary holistic health clinic with an open minded team based approach- with a red fence and an open door to people struggling with their health or who are finding themselves at a difficult time in their lives.
I think what inspires us is the 'human experience'- physical, emotional and spiritual- and finding a balance in health of all three.
The ‘Art of Medicine’ refers to the ancient mix of art and science of our profession and to the work we do.
‘Art of Medicine' also refers to the works of art which hang on the walls at North Coast Medical Centre.
Many of the works are by our patients and we have some beautiful Aboriginal works by local artists. We know most of the artists. There are many ways to tell a a story.
There is framed black and white photo of Frida Khalo hanging in the main corridor- we consider her to be our patron. The ‘human experience’ she represents continues to be one of our inspirations.
What does community mean to you?
Community is the best example I can think of where the whole is greater than just the sum of the individual parts.
It's a house party. It's about young and old celebrating with food, saying thank you to somebody who does something for you, remembering other people's names, making connections with your friend's kids and acknowledging their achievements. It’s about being conscious of shared sense of values and support for others in distress as we ever age.
It’s also about respecting and preserving the identity of our town and dare I say – the environment.
If I can quote Roger Waters it's 'Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street'
It’s the stuff of health and hope.

Dr Anthony Solomon Q&A - Continued
What inspired you to create an integrated medical space?
When we first opened as an integrated medical centre we hosted 6 health conferences as a way of meeting our peers in the profession.
Health practitioners came from far and wide and from every discipline - both mainstream medical and the whole spectrum of alternative and complimentary practices.
These events highlighted the dynamic energy that can be found in the 'common ground' and this continues to inspire the work we do.
Topics of the conferences included ‘chronic pain’, ‘depression and happiness’ and ‘addictions and freedom’ which are all ongoing threads of interest for us.
Tell us a little about the synergy of holistic medicine and science?
On a practical level. patients can either see one of our doctors, our naturopath or both.
Combined consultations with the patient. doctor and naturopath together in the room can be a productive place therapeutically particularly for people experiencing chronic resistant illness.
The combined consultation is a style of practice we pioneered and have refined over many years an is always interesting and informative.
Our fortnightly multidisciplinary case review meetings are an opportunity for professional exchange and reflection with educational benefits as we explore challenging presentations.
Who makes up the team at North Coast, tell us a little about your practitioners and what inspires them!
As a primary healthcare service we provide medical, nursing, naturopathic, osteopathic, exercise physiology and psychology services.
We have one of the largest psychology practices on the north coast.
We pride ourselves on the teaching we do for medical students and medical registrars.
We are a centre of learning.
