Since graduating some 10 years ago, where she accomplished the rare achievement of receiving both the Psychology and University Medals for her year, an academic scholarship, and First Class Honours with an average GPA over 6.5, Kate has continued to further her study both within Nutrition and Clinical Psychology. Kate is now undertaking a Master’s Degree and further post-grad research regarding binge eating and nutrition in mental health, while also continuing to publish across a range of scientific journals.

As Director of Compass Health Group and a Nutritional Psychologist, Kate specializes in: Working with a wide range of individuals to maximize human potential for rich, full and meaningful lives. Achieved via optimizing mind-body fitness through integrating:
• Evidence-based psychological assessment and skill training (CBT, ACT, DBT, Attachment Theory/Interpersonal Neurobiology);
• Pathology testing (to understand potential biological drivers of mood/neurochemistry);
• Deriving holistic treatment programs based on collaboration with other practitioners, exercise, and findings from nutritional and neuroscience research.

Kate’s broad range of experience includes: binge eating and body dissatisfaction, health behaviour change, chronic health conditions, depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, women’s health, substance use, sexuality issues, and personality disorders. Kate’s approach to research and practice is described as both highly scientific and humane, with evidenced-based skills and knowledge shared in a process that is compassionate and non-judgmental.

Jenny completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Deans Award) in 2012 at Charles Sturt University and is a registered psychologist with AHPRA

At North Coast Medical Centre Jenny offers psychological assessment and therapy to people 16 years and above

Jenny can see people under a Medicare Mental Health or Eating Disorder Care Plan

Background and Approach

Jenny has worked in private practice and residential drug and alcohol treatment centres for over 15 years supporting people to address psychological issues and limiting behaviours. Jenny understands that wellbeing is not just an absence of illness and that we flourish when we are viewed in our whole being. Jenny’s approach in therapy is to address the underlying drivers to Depression, Anxiety, Trauma Responses, Addiction and Disordered Eating.

Jenny has trained in and utilizes a variety of treatment approaches such as Compassionate Focused, Schema and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is accredited in eating disorder treatments such as CBT-Enhanced and Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM). Jenny approaches therapy with warmth, directness and professional care.
